Smart Lock

Your 4-digit code is unique to your stay and was sent in your booking confirmation. Enter it on the front door keypad to unlock. When leaving, press the lock button on the inside or it will auto-lock after 30 seconds.

  1. Locate the keypad on the front door (right side of frame)
  2. Enter your 4-digit code
  3. Press the handle firmly to unlatch the door
  4. To lock, press the lock button inside or the keypad's lock icon outside
  • Your code is unique to your stay and expires automatically at checkout
  • No physical keys needed—your smartphone is enough
  • The garage door also has a smart lock with its own code
  • Backup: there's a 9V battery terminal inside the lock for emergency access
  • The lock auto-secures after 30 seconds even if you forget

Common Issues

  • Code not working: double check your booking confirmation for the correct digits. Make sure you're pressing firmly on each number.
  • Lock not responding: check if the lock batteries are low—see the battery indicator light. Low batteries require 9V backup terminal use.
  • Forgot your code: check your original booking confirmation email. If lost, text Alec immediately.
  • Door won't latch after unlocking: pull the handle firmly to fully open, then close and retry the code.

Locked Out? This shouldn't happen with your 4-digit code, but if you're stuck:

Text Alec immediately at (815) 540-1091 with "LOCKED OUT" and your booking confirmation number. Response time is typically 5–10 minutes.

Garage Door Lock: The garage has its own 4-digit code provided in your confirmation. Enter it on the garage keypad using the same process as the front door.

Battery Life: The smart lock runs on standard AA batteries. Battery status appears on the lock's screen. If low, use the 9V backup terminal (instructions on the lock's back panel) or contact Alec for a battery replacement.
